This month I had the pleasure of photographing author Jaime Urencio, whose debut novel Rivennia will be published soon.
Jaime was born in Mexico City and has long made London his home. After a career in corporate finance, much of it in the biotechnology sector, he’s now turning his focus to fiction — and Rivennia marks the exciting start of his writing journey.
We shot Jaime’s author headshots near King’s Cross, taking advantage of the area’s mix of modern architecture and quiet backstreets. Jaime wanted images that felt contemporary and professional, but also warm and approachable something that reflected both his business background and his new creative path as a novelist.
The light that afternoon was perfect: soft and bright, with just enough cloud to give a flattering, even tone. We explored a few different settings clean lines, textured walls, and plain backgrounds to give him a range of looks for press, his publisher’s website, and future promotional use.
I can’t wait to see Rivennia make its way into readers’ hands, and I’m delighted that these portraits will accompany his first novel out into the world.
