Father and Child | Special Photographs
Whenever I shoot a Family Lifestyle portrait I absolutely love capturing the special relationship between a father and his child. With newborns it’s the hand on the head, and the sometimes nervous albeit delicate and loving scoop from the Moses basket. With toddlers it’s the teaching, and then the tickle and rough and tumble, the being chucked up in the air or perched on Dad’s shoulders.
Photographing these precious moments freezes them forever, moving them from fleeting moments to relivable memories. Dad’s aren’t always at home all day to be able to see their kids development step by step, but their bond is so strong nonetheless. Dad’s are special so make sure you have lots of photographs of your kids growing up with him!
My memories of my Dad as a child are: Being nestled in his giant arms, tickling his rough beard, building dens in our bedroom, scary and fun voices for stories, the fact that he seemed to know the answer to everything and being lucky enough to be hoisted onto his shoulders during a sunday walk in the woods. (I’m one of 4, so the spot on the shoulders was closely coveted).
Below are a selection of my favourite Father and Child moments from recent Family Portraits. I have also created a Pinterest Board for inspiration! Enjoy browsing and do be in touch if you’d like to book in a Family Lifestyle Shoot.
